The commerce society is the core pillar of Department of Commerce.
“In order to succeed, we must first believe that we can.”, Commerce Society “Sarmaya” endures the core of the quote mentioned; we have enunciated the will to win in the students, throughout the year with different events. The objective that drives the commerce society is to explore and encourage the potential of students along with giving them exposure and confidence to face the challenges up again in the world outside.
Every academic year the society organizes various events starting from “Freshers Welcome”, a welcome to first year students to the department giving them an opportunity to showcase their talents and get familiar with the department all the way.
The annual event “Explorica” of commerce society in which the Society organizes academic and cultural extravaganza which had witnessed participation of students across various colleges in Delhi and NCR. The students test their nerves and showcase their talent in various events such as Quiz, Debate, Mock Stock, Group Dance, Play, Nukkad Natak, Essay Writing, Rangoli and Fashion show. The winners get awarded with cash prizes and gift hampers. The overall objective is to inculcate the sense of managing, hosting and organizing an event. The annual event of the Commerce Society being a conducive in-house event of the department, which operate without any counsel or monitoring from the professionals, the efforts of students along with the guidance of teachers made it possible to overwhelmingly receive appraisal across all the individuals whom had witnessed the events.
Besides that many seminars and special lectures are conducted under this banner for students in every academic year related to CAT preparation, GD and interview preparation, Fashion Designing, and on various other topics.
Industrial Visits are also being held by the Department of Commerce to improve student’s inter personal skills and get a glimpse of the corporate world. Students visited many industries of Uttrakhand, Shimla, Himachal Pradesh and Bombay. Tours to Goa, Jaipur, Udaipur, Agra, Punjab and Bir Billing (H.P.) were also arranged for students accompanied with Teachers.
Summer internships: Students pursue internships in companies during the summer and this has been the most enriching experience for them as they get to see the real corporate world and they also learn a lot by working with senior people who train them during the entire period. They get to work on live projects and are able to learn a lot by practical experience. They become more focused and as a result of which they work with a more professional approach.
Biz Today is Annual Commerce magazine of the college which is giving a chance to teachers and students to write their views on various issues related to business, economics and political world. It gives a platform to vent out passion for writing and encourage original thinking within the students and the staff. The magazine also compiles the events and activities of college for which students and faculty members put their efforts and dedication throughout the year
