India-South Africa and G20 - Convergences and Concerns (14-15 September, 2023)
In collaboration with the Culture Council of University of Delhi, Zakir Husain Delhi College (Evening) organised academic and cultural events incorporating various themes in the symposium on G20. The cultural event kicked off with a musical celebration featuring solo acts, duets, an instrumental piece, and a band performance. Adding to the vibrant atmosphere, there were nine captivating dance performances, showcasing the diverse folk traditions of eight different Indian states like Bihar, Assam, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Gujarat and Maharashtra. A special Haryanvi folk dance presentation further enriched the cultural tapestry. The convenor of the Arts and Culture Society, Dr. Nahid Sana Khan delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks, followed by the National Anthems of India and South Africa. The second day commenced with a captivating Kathak dance performance followed by a powerful stage play depicting the Indian freedom struggle and its leaders, followed by an impactful excerpt from Nelson Mandela's speech. A vibrant solo Rajasthani folk dance added another layer of cultural richness. The grand finale was a captivating fashion show showcasing the diverse costumes and textiles from various Indian states. The event concluded with Dr. Simi Rizvi, member of the Arts and Culture Society, expressing her gratitude, followed by the National Anthems of India and South Africa.
