* The Department of Bengali was established at the inception of the College, in the year 1958.

* Dr. Nabendu Sen and Mr. Mihir Roychoudhury were the pioneers of Bengali language and literature teaching in this college.

* Presently Professor Munshi Md. Younus, Dr. Md. Jamilur Rahman, Dr. Tilak Sarkar and Dr. Shreeta Mukherjee are the permanent teaching faculty of the department.
