The main purpose of Studying history as a discipline at undergraduate level is to learn to analyze the past keeping in mind the twin foundations of the discipline namely time and place. In order to achieve this the teachers employ a range of methods while transacting the syllabus in the classrooms or outside it. These methods include not only the time tested methods of classroom lectures, question answer method, classroom discussion method, project work but also involves the annual excursion to places and monuments of historical importance. In the last few years the students were taken to places like Agra, Fatehpur Sikri, Amer and Jaipur and to various monuments in and around Delhi. The Department, with a view to help Hindi medium students, maintains a library which stores materials published in Hindi. The department also organizes Lecture sessions by eminent historians and teachers apart from other regular programmes conducted under the aegis of the History Society.
